My Professional Experience
Hi! I’m Miss Melissa, the owner and Childcare Provider behind Bright Beginnings! I have been running my home-based program since 2019, and I am committed to providing high quality childcare services. I hold a step 7 on Oregon Registry Online (ORO) and have completed over 250 hours of Early Childhood Development training. I also attend UCC part time, and I am a little over halfway to my first degree in Early Childhood Education. I truly love learning, and one of my favorite parts is that everything I learn today can be put into practice tomorrow!
Outside of Work
When I’m not wearing my “Miss Melissa” hat, you’ll find me soaking in the simple joys of life. I’m a proud mom, bonus-mom, pet mom, and a lover of big adventures. I absolutely love the Oregon outdoors! Whether it’s hiking, visiting the coast, or just getting muddy in the mountains. I love traveling, exploring local wineries and dining at my favorite food joints. At home, you’ll find me making memories with family and friends, putting together a good charcuterie spread, or cooking a homemade meal. I am a big fan of Sushi, Mexican food, Starbucks & Dutch Bros coffee, and food trucks. When it comes to dessert, Tiramisu is my ultimate favorite, but you might catch me snacking on some Reese’s Pieces.

About our Family
Here is the family behind Bright Beginnings Childcare Services—Miss Melissa, Toby, and our three amazing kids. Our home is always full of laughter, adventure, and a bit of chaos thanks to our pack of pets—dogs, cats, and even a few curious ferrets.
When not working, you can find us creating laughter, adventures, and memories together. Our favorite past times are playing games, exploring both the city and outdoors, as well as spending time with our loved ones.
We’re a family-first crew who believes in raising good humans—both in our home and in our community. We love God, we love our family, and we strive to live with kindness, purpose, and joy.

😸❤️🐶 Our Pets
Mama Jade prefers a quiet corner away from the hussle and bussle of daycare. You will rarely see her, but you will definitely hear her loud meow from time to time.
Oakley & Cash are our senior babies of the gang. With a combined weight of 200lbs, they enjoy supervised visits with the kids, treats, and looking for forgotten floor snacks.
Gracie is a mini doxie, and she is playful and energetic. She loves playing with the kids and performing tricks for treats. Her favorite thing to do is watch mommy at karate practice.
Kyo is the definition of orange cat energy. He is a furnado with 2 speeds: Napping or coming in hot. You’ll find him zooming in and out of the house, or chirping at birds in the window.
Nomad’s love language is pets and food! You can find him waiting at the food bowl, or cuddling with the kids at nap time. If you become one of his trusted friends, he will wait for you to arrive every morning on the porch.
Bandit, Chaos, & Noodle are our 3 rambunctious ferrets. Licensing does not permit daycare visits, but when the kids have gone for the day, these three musketeers are ready to play!
